In 1974, Marion Geyer, a
Beacon Journal writer, bequeathed WITAN $20,000. The interest monies from
this Honorary Member's estate have funded Mobile Meals, Cuyahoga Street Block
Club, Ohio Chapter of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Akron Area Soap Box
Derby, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Hower House, Pegasus Farm, Northeast
Ohio Task Force on AIDS, Habitat for Humanity, International Institute, HM
Life Opportunity Services, Alpha Library Committee, the Cuyahoga Valley Youth
Ballet, the Illusion Factory, the Peggy Kaufman Foundation, Hattie Larlham,
Edwin Shaw, Victory Gallop (Camp Chops), and Catholic Social Services. |

How to
Request A Community Grant |
||||
|
The Civic Committee of
WITAN is the liaison between the fund-raising arm of the organization and the
community at large. We make an effort to balance our donations between the
health, education, preservation and arts projects that are presented to us
yearly. |
||||
|
In addition to our
long-term projects, up to 10 projects are funded each year. Recipients are
501(c)3 nonprofit agencies or organizations serving the needs of the greater |
||||
|
If your project request
is for funds greater than $600, click here to view
and print the Project Summary Form. Requests must be postmarked by November
30. |
||||
|
Requests for funds for projects
of $600 or less should be postmarked by October 31, 2007. Agencies should
provide a description of the project on letterhead with the requested funding
